Career pathways for rural students

For those of us living in a rural or remote community

The job we really want can seem out of our reach

But if we take an achievable first step

Like a first local job, course or apprenticeship

We’re not only one step closer to our goal

But we open up new pathways for getting there

So Trish, who wanted to work in a nursery

Started with a job at a garden centre in her town while she was in high school

Then did a TAFE course in horticulture (and made some great friends)

And then landed an awesome job in the city at a big nursery

And Jack, who wanted to be a carpenter

Started with a school-based traineeship

Then finished his apprenticeship with a great group of guys in a nearby town

And now runs his own projects back in his community
